Scrubb

Terms of Use

Last updated: 25 August 2026

The short version

Scrubb is a tool you buy once and use. We do not collect your data. We have tried hard to make it safe with your files, but you should still keep backups, as you should with any software that writes to your photos.

Licence

Buying Scrubb Pro gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Scrubb on the devices associated with your Apple Account, under Apple’s standard End User License Agreement. You may not resell it, redistribute it, or attempt to defeat the purchase check.

Apple’s terms apply alongside these: see the Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

What Scrubb does to your files

Scrubb removes metadata by rewriting the container around your image and copying the compressed picture across untouched. Before handing you any file, it re-reads what it wrote and checks that the image still decodes, that its dimensions match the original, that its pixels hash identically, and that the fields you asked to remove are actually gone. A file that fails any of those checks is deleted rather than delivered.

By default, cleaning writes a new file and leaves your original alone. “Replace Original” is available, sits behind its own confirmation, and still writes and verifies the replacement before overwriting anything.

Camera RAW negatives are deliberately refused, because their internal layouts are proprietary and a bad edit destroys an image that cannot be recreated.

No warranty

Scrubb is provided “as is”. We have built substantial verification into it and we test it hard, but we cannot warrant that it is free of defects, that it will remove every trace of metadata from every file a device or application might produce, or that it will meet a specific legal or forensic standard.

Do not rely on Scrubb alone where disclosure would cause you serious harm. If your safety depends on a photo carrying no identifying information, verify the result independently before sharing it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Serious Business Software LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of Scrubb, including lost files or disclosed information. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, and refunds are governed by Apple’s policy. Request one through Apple’s refund process — we cannot issue refunds directly.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
