Privacy Policy

Scrubb is a photo metadata tool. It is worth being precise about what it does with your data, because the whole point of the app is that hidden data gets shared without your knowledge.

What Scrubb collects

Nothing.

There is no account to create, no sign-in, no server to talk to, and no analytics or crash reporting inside the app. Scrubb does not build a profile of you, does not log the files you open, and has no way to see your photos.

Where your photos are processed

Entirely on your device. Every byte of reading, rewriting and verification happens on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. Your photos are never uploaded, never copied off the device, and never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

The one network request

Scrubb makes exactly one kind of network request, and only when you are looking at a photo that contains GPS coordinates.

To label the map in the inspector, Scrubb asks Apple’s mapping service to turn a coordinate into a place name — for example, turning 51.500728, −0.124625 into “Elizabeth Tower, London, England”. This is handled by the operating system’s own MapKit framework, so the request goes to Apple, not to us. We receive nothing from it and we do not see that it happened.

That request contains the coordinate. If you would rather it never happen, do not open a photo that has location data, or turn off network access for Scrubb in your system settings — the rest of the app works normally without it, and metadata removal never touches the network.

Purchases

Scrubb Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment details, your name, or your Apple Account. Apple tells us only anonymous, aggregated sales totals, which cannot be tied back to an individual.

Your purchase is verified on your device against the receipt Apple provides. Nothing about it is sent to us.

Photo library permission

If you choose to work with photos from your library, iOS and macOS ask for your permission first. Scrubb reads the original file so it can rewrite it losslessly, and — if you ask it to save back to your library — writes a new cleaned copy. Your originals are never modified unless you explicitly choose “Replace Original”, which has its own separate confirmation.

The permission is used for nothing else. Scrubb does not scan your library, index it, or read photos you have not selected.

Children

Scrubb is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous version stays in the site’s Git history.
